One of my new clients told me recently that she'd been putting off making contact for ages because she wasn’t sure what would happen next. What a great example of how a lack of self-confidence can cause us to get stuck when it really shouldn’t be that hard! So for anyone who might be tempted to dip a toe in the water I thought I’d set out what you can expect when you do make contact.

So you’ve sent me a message to ask about coaching. What happens next?

Firstly the good news. You’ve done your bit and now it’s over to me. I’ll respond to you in the same way you reached me: for most it’s WhatsApp, text or email. We’ll arrange a time to talk on the phone or over Zoom. This is a nice, comfortable chat, nothing too heavy. It usually lasts between 45-60 minutes. Some coaches offer an initial coaching session as part of this first call but I don’t. I prefer to find out a bit more about you, tell you a bit about my coaching and let you decide whether you want to be coached by me first. There’s no sales pitch, and certainly no pressure.

There are three purposes for this call:

1. For us to get to know each other a little better. Coaching is an exciting and wonderful journey where you get to choose the destination, the route and the speed we travel at. So if you’re going on a journey this good you need to make sure you’re happy with your travelling companion!

2. For me to be really confident that my coaching is right for you. I will know from this first conversation whether my style of coaching is likely to fit well with your preferences, and most importantly that you can achieve what you want from the process.

3. For you to gather all of the information you need to decide whether you’d like to work with me. How do I coach? How long are the sessions? How often? How many sessions? How much will it cost?

If you decide on the call that I’m the right coach for you and you're ready to get started we can schedule our first session. If you would prefer to take some time to think about it, to chat it through with a partner or friend, or maybe compare a few different coaches I’m very happy for you to do this. The only follow-up you’ll ever get from me is a message a few days later to check whether you need any more information. I won’t ever try to persuade you to sign up because I’m committed to only coaching individuals that are really excited to be working with me.

And that’s it!

The worst that could happen (because we all like to imagine this) is that you lose 60 minutes of your life talking in complete confidence to someone who wanted to listen to what you had to say. The best that could happen ……. well that’s up to you!
